Last checked: 2 September 2026. This comparison is for UK businesses considering employees who will work in South Africa. It distinguishes Employer of Record services from recruitment, outsourcing and payroll-only support.
There is no single provider that is best for every employer. A specialist South Africa route may suit a UK SME making one or two hires, while a multinational platform may suit a business managing employees across many countries. The shortlist below is organised by best-fit use case, not by an undisclosed score.

How we assessed the providers
We reviewed public country, service, pricing, terms and company-information pages. Official provider material was used for service claims; government, legislation and company registers were preferred for statutory or entity facts. We have not presented customer-review scores or claimed hands-on product testing.
The comparison considered:
- the named South African employing entity or local-partner structure;
- UK-facing support and South Africa expertise;
- recruitment capability and an EOR-only route for client-nominated candidates;
- payroll, statutory administration, HR and termination support;
- pricing transparency, deposits, minimums and contract commitments;
- technology, integrations and multi-country coverage; and
- the amount of public evidence, including terms, case studies and company details.
Where an important fact was not publicly available, the table says so rather than making an assumption. Providers can submit corrections through the Hire SA Talent contact page.
1. SA Konexion — best fit for UK SMEs wanting recruitment and EOR support through one South Africa specialist
SA Konexion’s service page says the UK client contracts with SA Konexion Ltd and that SA Konexion (Pty) Ltd becomes the South African employer under the service arrangement. It combines candidate sourcing with a route for local employment, payroll and administration.
Strengths: a narrow UK-to-South-Africa focus; recruitment and EOR support can be discussed together; personal support may suit smaller employers making their first South African hire.
Limitations: the named UK and South African companies were incorporated in 2025; the public brand and case-study footprint is smaller than that of multinational platforms; public information about software integrations is limited; it is not the natural fit for a complex multi-country workforce programme. Ask for the exact employing entity, service agreement, insurance, data terms, fee schedule and exit process.
Hire SA Talent introduces prospective clients; it does not employ the worker or provide the EOR service. Other providers in this comparison may be more suitable depending on country coverage, technology and programme size.
2. Remote — best fit for direct-entity global coverage
Remote’s South Africa Employer of Record page and local terms identify its South African entity. Its public pricing page lists EOR from US$699 per employee per month, or US$599 when paid annually.
Strengths: broad country coverage, a mature global platform and a clearly documented South African entity.
Limitations: employers wanting hands-on South African recruitment may need an additional service; the headline price is not a complete country-specific cost; large platforms can require a more standardised process than a specialist provider.
3. Veridian Global — best fit for South Africa-focused support for UK and European clients
Veridian Global presents South African EOR and recruitment services for UK and European businesses and names a Cape Town company.
Strengths: South Africa focus and recruitment capability alongside employment support.
Limitations: public pricing is not disclosed. Confirm the exact employing entity, contract chain, deposits, insurance, termination procedure and whether quoted experience refers to the company or combined team experience.
4. Deel — best fit for global platform breadth and integrations
Deel’s South Africa hiring page describes its local EOR route, while Deel’s pricing page lists a starting EOR price of US$599 per employee per month.
Strengths: large international footprint, broad HR tooling and integrations, and publicly documented South Africa coverage.
Limitations: starting prices do not show the full South African employment cost. Deel says a hire could start in as little as two days; this should not be treated as an average or guarantee. Confirm the actual timeline for your worker and documents.
5. Playroll — best fit for transparent platform pricing with South Africa coverage
Playroll’s South Africa page gives country-specific EOR information. Its pricing page advertises EOR from US$399 per employee per month with no minimum and no onboarding or offboarding fee.
Strengths: public starting price, global platform and a dedicated South Africa page.
Limitations: the South Africa page gives a 10–15 business-day onboarding estimate, which is more relevant than generic global speed claims. A refundable deposit equal to one month’s salary is stated. Confirm benefits, FX, termination and refund mechanics.
6. Atlas HXM — best fit for established multinational direct-EOR programmes
Atlas HXM describes a direct Employer of Record model across more than 160 countries. Atlas-hosted coverage material includes South Africa.
Strengths: multinational scale and a direct-EOR positioning intended for larger programmes.
Limitations: we did not find a current public South Africa country page with a country-specific price. Reconfirm the employing entity, implementation plan, service team and full quote before relying on general global claims.
7. Safeguard Global — best fit for wider global workforce services
Safeguard Global’s South Africa page confirms EOR coverage and describes local employment administration.
Strengths: established international presence and broader workforce services that may suit a larger programme.
Limitations: public South Africa pricing and the detailed entity model were not clear in the material reviewed. Ask for the employing entity, local escalation route, deposits, minimum terms and termination support.
8. Future Teams — best fit for comparing EOR with recruitment-led remote staffing
Future Teams’ South Africa EOR page offers an existing-candidate route. Its pricing page shows £295 per month for the published EOR service, plus separately listed software and screening fees and a two-month salary deposit.
Strengths: UK-facing positioning, recruitment capability and relatively detailed public pricing.
Limitations: recruitment-plus-outsourcing and EOR for an existing candidate are different routes. Check which contract applies, what the monthly fee includes and how the salary deposit is held and returned.
9. Gemini Worx — best fit for employers seeking recruitment alongside workforce support
Gemini Worx presents Employer of Record and recruitment support, with more background on its company page.
Strengths: recruitment experience and a South African workforce focus.
Limitations: we did not find public pricing or enough detail to verify the South African employing entity and EOR-only route. These points should be confirmed in the proposal and contract.
10. DNA EOR — best fit for a South Africa-based EOR specialist
DNA EOR presents South African EOR services, and its terms name DNA EOR (Pty) Ltd. The site advertises a fixed fee in the US$125–199 range.
Strengths: specialist positioning, a named South African company and an unusually low public fee range.
Limitations: a low headline fee needs careful scope checking. Confirm payroll and HR inclusions, deposits, minimums, benefits, FX, offboarding and termination fees, as well as recruitment availability.
What to ask before choosing a South African EOR
- Which named South African entity signs the employment contract?
- Does the provider use its own entity or a local partner?
- Can it recruit, support a candidate you already found, or both?
- Which payroll filings and statutory obligations are included?
- Who leads warnings, disciplinary steps, consultation and termination?
- What are the setup, monthly, deposit, FX, benefit, expense and exit charges?
- Is there a minimum employee number or contract term?
- How are data protection, intellectual property, insurance and security handled?
- What happens if the relationship or provider needs to change?
South African employment-law caveat
The provider’s South African entity will normally sign the employment contract and run payroll under the proposed arrangement. Statutory employer status and client liability can still depend on the structure and South African labour law, including temporary employment service and deeming provisions. An EOR does not remove every legal, tax, data or management risk. Ask the provider to explain its model and obtain suitably qualified advice for your proposed arrangement.
